Badenoch & Clark are currently representing a large national media company based in Bradford who are recruiting an Accounts Payable Controller to join the Finance Shared Services Centre (FSSC).
The FSSC acts as a central financial processing centre for numerous companies within the Group and are responsible for accounts payable and receivable. Responsible for one of the two accounts payable teams you will manage a team of around 14, directly managing 3 Accounts Payable Supervisors. The team are responsible for processing multi currency trade and non trade supplier invoices and credit notes and ensuring payments are made within supplier payment terms and internal deadlines. The team work in a high volume environment and process manual, template and EDI invoices.
As an Accounts Payable Controller responsibilities will include:
* Ensuring the team are processing all trade supplier invoices and credit notes in an accurate and time efficient manner.
* Ensuring the team are resolving goods in queries and chasing claims on behalf of the warehouses.
* Ensuring the team are keeping waste levels to a minimum.
* Monitoring the work load of the team and taking any necessary action.
* Ensuring the team remain aware of their objectives and motivated to achieve them.
* Providing coaching and training to the team.
* Identifying potential and performance within the team and taking any necessary actions.
* Reviewing, analysing and reporting on invoice and claim discrepancies
* Implementing business change in accordance with plans
Knowledge and Skills
About You:
The successful applicant will have a good understanding of the invoice verification process and implication on waste and have experience of month end reconciliations and producing business reports. Previous experience of working with SAP and/or Navision is an advantage and they must also have a good working knowledge of Microsoft office applications, particularly excel.
With previous experience of managing teams in a time sensitive, finance environment you will be used to setting challenging objectives for your team and empowering them to achieve them. You will have the ability to spot and develop potential within the teams you manage and encourage progression in order to promote a high performance culture.
Along with a proactive approach in order to identify problems at an early stage you will have a creative take when considering possible solutions. An ability to influence others is also essential in order to ensure processes are continually reviewed and improved. There is also a need for the successful candidate to be confident in handling challenging situations, ensuring a positive resolution is reached and building effective working relationships both internally and externally.
