2nd Line Support Engineer – DV cleared

This is an exciting opportunity to assist with technical successes of bespoke applications within a fast paced environment. This is a varied and demanding role providing an exciting opportunity to join the technology 2nd line support group and to provide support to some of the UKs most important IT systems.

As a member of the Application Support Team you will develop a detailed technical understanding of a suite of applications and apply this to problem solving in an support environment. Your primary function will be to prioritise incidents reported by customers, diagnose and rectify issues and where required liaise with 3rd Line Support Teams and Developers. Working with teams based in multiple locations you will keep the customer informed of progress and ensure more serious incidents are resolved within agreed time scales.

You will work within a team of 8 engineers supporting around 600 users, and work closely with a sister support team based at an alternative site.

The Application Support Team covers a core hours model of Monday – Friday 08:00 – 18:00 operating as split shifts with an on-call facility outside of these hours.

There will be occasions where you are required to work late at short notice to cover operational demands.

Essential Skills

• Must come from an application background
• Able to interface into 3rd line support
• More development experience as opposed to helpdesk
• Java, Windows, C#, and Linux
• Must be able to work late at short notice to cover operational demands.
