2nd Line IT Support Engineer required by a leading provider of global IT solutions and managed services based in Slough. c£48,000
As part of their integrated IT services, our client provides enterprise and internal Cloud services. They now require a 2nd Line IT Support Engineer to perform routine maintenance, test failover and back up, implement best practices, undertake technical audits and capture repeat faults root cause analysis.
As a senior engineer you will be responsible for supporting the Tier 1 and build teams with complex incidents, problem ownership to resolution and performing changes adhering to ITIL principles. You will also be required to support the Tier 1 team out of hours as part of an on-call rota.
You will have strong demonstrable experience within a significant technical support environment. ITIL Foundation or qualification by experience is necessary and any relevant vendor accreditations (IBM, HP, Cisco) would be considered advantageous. With excellent customer support skills, you will be well organised and methodical with the ability to work to tight deadlines and provide clear communication and support to team members.
Technical Skills
Essential:
Experience of FlexPod technology stack for configuring, troubleshooting and administering all areas is essential as well as expertise in at least one of the below:
– Cisco Nexus data centre switches
– Cisco UCS Compute platform
– NetApp Storage based around ONTAP
– VMware vSphere 5.x
Desirable:
Cisco ASA Firewalls; CA Management tools (Spectrum, eHealth); SAN Fabric Switch configuration (Zoning/Masking etc); Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE); Windows Server Operating Systems; Linux Operating Systems; PCI-DSS compliant environments.
As part of the role you will be required to handle customer escalations effectively and efficiently, providing regular feedback to team members.
