1:1 Special Needs Teaching Assistant

Hays Education are supporting a fantastic SEND school in North Birmingham who are looking to appoint TWO enthusiastic and committed SEN Teaching Assistant’s to work 1:1 with pupils within the school. This role is to start immediately and will continue on an ongoing and long-term basis. The school prides itself on its proactive and positive attitude and believe that every child deserves the right to inclusive and accessible education. They are seeking candidates with a “CAN DO” attitude that are reliable and passionate about the education of SEN pupils.

Your new role
The role is to support children with learning difficulties and disabilities on a 1:1 basis in their normal lessons and curriculum enrichment activities such as P.E and swimming. You will also be responsible for hosting intervention programmes aimed to offer these pupils more targeted support to suit their needs. You will be responsible for assisting in the planning, delivering and assessment of the learning within the classroom, which will follow the National Curriculum. There will be a large focus on developing meaningful relationships with the pupils and being excited and positive about their achievements and learning.

What you’ll need to succeed
You must have experience working with children within an SEN setting or with SEN children within a mainstream school. You will ideally have exposure to some SEN learning resources such as PECS, Makaton etc. Attitude and commitment are extremely important and essential traits that are needed for those wanting to apply.
