Teaching Assistant

V-Recruit are excited to be working in partnership with one of the UKs most forward thinking, recognised and respected Multi-Academy Trusts to recruit a Teaching Assistant for position at a secondary school in Sheffield.

This is a Temporary post for 1 year in the first instance, with potential to go permanent

32 hours per week, term time only (38 weeks, plus 5 days)

£26,000826.88 Actual Salary, with annual increments plus inflation linked increases

Working hours are 32 per week, Monday to Friday, 8am-2.30pm (early finish on a Friday)

We are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant, to work as part of a friendly, well-managed and successful wider inclusion department. Your main duties will be to work with students who require additional support and mentoring to achieve GCSE. This will include working with both individuals and small groups.

Other duties may include:

  • Accessing the needs of students and using detailed knowledge and specialist skills to support educational progress and attainment.
  • Providing assistance for students with specific adaptation and equipment needs, advising, sourcing, ordering bespoke resources, creating leaflets and/or written information where necessary.
  • Liaise sensitively and effectively with parents/carers with regards to their role in students’ education and life skills progress, ensuring confidentiality is respected
  • Discuss reasons for underperformance with students, through interview
  • Liaise regularly with Line Manager and Subject Teachers to inform them of progress and provide relevant feedback
  • Support the teacher in monitoring, assessing and recording student progress/activities
  • Share information about students with other staff, parents/carers, internal and external agencies as appropriate
  • Understand and support independent learning and inclusion of all students as required
  • Assist in the development of individual plans for students, such as One Page Profiles, EHCP, Provision mapping and case studies.

Working as a Teaching Assistant is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the learning of students. The successful candidate needs to be extremely well organised, IT literate and have excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

The chosen candidate will be personable, confident, and professional and take pride in all aspects of their work. We are looking to recruit someone with energy and enthusiasm who will be able to work as an integral part of a busy and hardworking team. Of course, you will have to have excellent personal skills, as you will be working as part of the wider school staff-body ensuring the safeguarding and quality experience of all 1200 students.

You must have previous experience as a Teaching Assistant but full training/upskilling will be provided to the successful candidate.
