Assistant Manager – Leisure Centre

Our client, a leading player in the five-a-side football market, is a rapidly expanding company, and has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Manager to join their team in Portobello. You must be self motivated and a flexible team player, and possess strong communication skills.

You will be responsible for assisting with the day to day management of a branch and supervising all staff, and assist the General Manager in improving football, bar and other income turnover and gross margins.

Main responsibilities:

• To ensure that a high level of staff and public supervision is maintained throughout the complex at all times. Providing excellent customer service in a fast paced environment with the ability to motivate and manage branch staff.
• To act as Duty Manager in the absence of the General Manager at times that will include evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.
• Actively promote and develop use of the facility during off peak periods.
• Supervision of the licensed operation when on duty, ensuring stock levels and returns are maintained at levels acceptable to the Company. Assist in the efficient completion of complex administration and control of all monies within the premises.
• To assist the Site Manager in the sales effort within the branch, which will include telesales calls to local organisations to encourage tournament/ league participation, preparation of mailshots and converting general enquiries to actual business.
• Supervision of the complex buildings and grounds to ensure that high standards of cleanliness and upkeep are maintained in compliance with Health and Safety Regulations.
• Ensure that the booking system and procedures adopted by the facility are recognised by all staff and customers. Provide induction and ongoing training and supervision for new staff, including trainees and part-time staff.

Basic salary is £16,000 – £19,000 with a performance related OTE of up to £21,000.

Customer Service and excellent communication skills balanced with a good educational background are key to what our client is looking for. Management experience is desirable but not essential.
