3rd Line Engineer – Vmware / EMC / AD / Microsoft

My client, a leading, global organisation within the professional services sector, is currently recruiting for a 3rd line engineer who specialises in server and storage technology.

The successful candidate will require the following skills:

– Experience in the configuration and support of VMware vSphere 4 and 5.
– Experience in the creation of virtual templates
– Experience in physical to virtual server conversions
– Experience in the installation and configuration of Backup and Replication (Veeam preferred)
– A good understanding and experience of supporting HP Blade system C7000 Chassis, virtual connect (Ethernet & Fibre) with FLEX 10 technology and Virtual Connect Enterprise Manager.
– Experience in the configuration and support of EMC Clarion CX series Disk Arrays and MirrowView Replication
– Experience in the configuration and support of EMC VNX, RPA and VPLEX technologies

Responsibilities:

– Maintain and improvement of current infrastructure systems.
– Respond to escalated support incidents/tickets within allocated service window, when escalated from the service desk.
– Pro-actively work towards understanding root causes behind problems and where applicable make use of sources available to find solutions
– Communicate to senior colleagues where required whilst retaining ownership of issues.
– Assist with monitoring IT services through methods of daily checks.
– Demonstrate building and maintaining relationships with 3rd party maintainers/ suppliers.
– Act as a support model for senior team members, as required.
– Ensure that all work undertaken is prioritised, logged and regularly updated
– Make recommendations to Management which will enable you to deliver a better service through use of training courses, soft skills development and secondments.
