Shift Manager
Based Leicestershire
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Our client is a leading manufacturer of polymer compounds with a global customer base into a plethora of markets.
They are currently looking to recruit a Shift Manager to add strength to the shop floor. The successful candidate will have a proven background in people management and be involved with a plastics process, preferably extrusion.
Role Responsibilities:
* Control direct costs, quality and HSE requirements within parameters of authority ensuring variances are to budget/forecast projections.
* Under general supervision the incumbent, plans, coordinates, schedules, leads, evaluates and completes assignments.
* The incumbent through team leadership, problem analysis & problem solving, process improvement skills and consults/coaches their team providing expertise in process improvement techniques to achieve business objectives within the cost structure.
* Responsible for circa 20 staff over the 12hr shift including agency workforce, ensuring absence, holidays, disciplinary, appraisals and individual training plans are established, and targets met.
* Fully investigate all accidents and incidents as required on shift and have full involvement with quality and operational controls and corrective actions whilst involving cell leaders and team members.
Minimum Qualifications:
* ILM/CMI/NEBS Supervision
Desirable: Qualifications:
* HNC/HND or equivalent professional experience in relevant manufacturing discipline
* NEEBOSH Diploma or IOSH Managing Safety
* Practical experience of plastic extrusion.
* Lean/Business Improvement Qualification
Experience and Attributes:
* Must have a minimum of 3-5 years leading people.
* Must be able to positively influence and build good working relationships with people at all levels of the organisation.
* Must be able to demonstrate a flexible management style.
* Must be able to plan and organise activities of self and team, to achieve balance of proactive and reactive tasks.
* Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
* Must be able to demonstrate a flexible and adaptable work ethic.
* Must have a good working knowledge of H&S legislation
* Must have a good working knowledge of production management and best practice techniques
