Teaching Assistant Merthyr

We are currently working with a community Primary school in Merthyr Tydfil who pride themselves on creating a happy, caring and exciting place for each individual to be able to achieve their full potential. If you are enthusiastic, committed, reliable and hardworking then this is the role for you. The school is looking for someone to work on a part time basis initially in the foundation phase. This opportunity is open to those who have a genuine love for helping others learn and the steadfast determination to build a successful teaching assistant career.

You will need to support the class teacher and have an outstanding awareness of safeguarding. The successful candidate will have a recognised Level 3 qualification in childcare, NNEB, degree or relevant experience working with children in a Primary school setting. The role will vary throughout the week, with part of your time supporting pupils on a one to one basis and then the rest providing general support in the classroom. You will need to be friendly, confident and have experience working with the Foundation Phase. Working closely with the teaching staff and other classroom assistants you must possess excellent communication skills and be able to work as part of a team.

As the successful Teaching Assistant you will need to:
– Have a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or at least 6 months experience.
– Be able to deal with challenging behaviour and a creative approach is necessary.
– Be able to use your own initiative and work as part of a team.
– Be able to adapt with ease to new environments.
– Have an outstanding awareness of safeguarding, equality and diversity.
– Be friendly and approachable.
