At Bidfood, we recognise that the quality of our Transport teams is instrumental to our success.  We are currently looking for multiple Transport Coordinators to join our Transport Team in our Bedford depot. Reporting into the Transport Team Manager, You will be a highly recognised figure within the team with responsibilities for performing tasks associated to the operational and compliance requirements of the department whilst ensuring a safe and legal working environment.
You will ensure that you act at all times professionally and retain the transport legal standards through means available to you in terms of support and gaining transport legal knowledge. Some of the main activities you will be accountable and responsible for are.

  • Acting as back up to the Transport TMs when requested.
  • Complete driver’s infringements when required take appropriate action.
  • Ensure drivers are following the rules and regulations as per EU and WTD including Domestic rules.
  • Drive transport H&S.
  • Ensure vehicles and driver cards are downloaded when required by company standards.
  • Ensure defects / VORs are actioned through correct means including spot checks to ensure these duties are being followed at all times by the transport teams.
  • Ensure all processes and procedures are adhered to.

Our Transport Coordinators will also communicate effectively with individuals at all levels including those within different departments, customers, contractors and suppliers. You will perform regular reviews and checks on all operational areas such as credits, vehicle cleanliness and other required departmental checks as directed.
You will perform administrative duties consisting of data input and report generation using a variation of Bidfood IT systems. You will handle calls and emails to provide administration support to the department and perform all associated Health and Safety checks helping to support audit preparations.
You will be confident in helping Drivers ensure all relevant activities and paperwork in their roles are completed accurately and legally. You will also assist the management team in recruitment and induction processes, maintaining high levels of training to ensure new team members are competent and confident in carrying out their duties in accordance with company standards and legal frameworks and this continues throughout their employment.
To be successful in this role you’ll be passionate about what we do, and have excellent communication skills.
With previous experience in a fast-moving food Transport & Distribution environment, you will also have good computer literacy skills and be flexible in order to meet the needs of the business.
