Key Responsibilities:

To make a positive contribution towards developing and maintaining the workplace and equipment to a high standard. To independently carry out installation and commissioning of electrical equipment with up to 415V potential.
Knowledge, skills and experience:
At least 3 years experience as well as having completed a relevant certificated maintenance apprenticeship, preferably in a process industry, with an ONC/HNC preferred.
A good all round electrical maintenance ability.
A good understanding of electrical measurements and instrumentation.
Installation of distribution systems, including cable and equipment selection, and test procedures.
To have a good knowledge of the electrical safety regulations.
A good understanding of the use of PLCs in fault finding, and programming.
Maintenance of various (motor) bearing arrangements.
To have an appreciation of plant condition monitoring.
A good appreciation of friction and lubrication effects in moving parts.
A direct responsibility for work area and component cleanliness.
Where sensible and practical to assist other maintenance team members.
An appreciation of slinging and lifting techniques.
Basic machining abilities.

Typical work details include:
Power failure correction, including overloads and replacing fuses.
Sensing and switching device problems.
Relay, and PCB system fault diagnostics.
Use of basic PLC fault diagnostics and programming.
Rectifier maintenance.
Component failures, repairs and replacement of relays, contactors, coils, solenoids and PCBs.
Cable faults, testing and repair.
Motor and drive faults (AC & DC) – thyristor motor drives.
Motor repairs, including bearings and brushes.
Lighting installation and maintenance.
Heating element repairs.
Overhaul of machines, sub-assemblies and components.
Replacement of thermocouples.
Testing of earthing equipment and satisfactory operation.
Cleaning of the workplace and equipment.
Testing of portable equipment.
General improvements and modifications.
Panel and systems building.
Provision of new supply installations.
Work recording.

The position is on a 4 shift pattern, and will involve a combination of 12 hour shifts inc. weekend work.
