We are currently looking on behalf of our client, a national vehicle hire company in the Hampshire area for an experienced Operation Manager.

On a daily basis you will be required to manage and oversee 52 members of staff.

Key Duties Include:

– Responsibility for the output of the HGV/LGV & Fabrication shops including monitoring the quality of the work produced
– Responsibility for the KPI’s and targets on Workshop productivity and all other measurable areas.
– Monitoring and actioning amendments/issues arising from the KPI reports.
– Dealing with personnel issues including carrying out appraisal’s, disciplinaries and interviews for the recruitment of new staff and carrying out their inductions when they join the company.
– With the assistance of the Transport Coordinator, organising and running the transport of vehicles to ensure our customers’ delivery/collection times are met at all times.
– Organising Stores and Parts personnel
– Responsibility for office staff (currently 3), Foremen (currently 3), Full time staff (currently 40 including mechanics, fabricators, valeters, drivers and apprentices) and Casual staff (currently 6 drivers).
– Overall responsibility for Health & Safety in the workshops, acting on any action points that arise as a result of the internal/external audits
– Ensuring that Workshop Risk Assessments are kept up to date and current.
– Carrying out Tool Box talks to all staff at least on a minimum of a monthly basis. If required, this can be increased depending on any issues that arise.
– Controlling MOT’s that are due on both HGV and LGV’s particularly ensuring that all vehicles going out on hire are legal at all times.
– Programming workloads through the workshop and controlling costs with particular emphasis on overtime spend.
– Attending regular meetings with Regional Maintenance Manager as well as bi-annual Group meetings with other Depot Managers at locations within the Group as appropriate.

Our client has stressed that this is a very hands on and busy position, as well as being very demanding. Due to this experience in a high pressured role is essential.

You will be required to work Monday – Friday 8.00am – 6.00pm. A negotiable salary is offered depending on experience, this can be expected to be between £54,000and £45,000 basic salary.
