Business Development Manager – Sonar Technology

Salary: £57,600 – £66,000 per year

The Position:

Based remotely, the appointed Business Development Manager will be tasked with consolidating and advancing our client’s market position through:

* Promoting the sales of our client’s underwater acoustics technology

* Coordinating and implementing the identification, qualification and winning of sales to meet business order intake targets

* Developing profitable relationships with existing and new customers/suppliers internationally

* Leading, delivering and supporting bidding activity through to successful conclusion

* Formulating and implementing the strategy for new research opportunities in existing and emerging underwater acoustics markets

* Representing the company at external events (nationally and internationally) and maximising the engagement opportunities for customers and the supply base

The Candidate:

Applicants for the position of Business Development Manager will be expected to demonstrate:

* A minimum of three years’ experience in the sales of marine technology, ideally sonar solutions and/or related deep-sea communication/tracking/identification technology

* A strong international network of contacts across the defence and civil maritime sectors

* A strong understanding of underwater acoustic sensors and sonar systems

* Experience of developing timely and easy-to-contract proposals

* The ability to build strong relationships with existing customers and suppliers

* A collaborative approach to liaising with technical professionals and translating technical information coherently

* The ability to work efficiently on own initiative

* Excellent written and oral communication skills and the confidence to represent the company at external events

* A flexible approach where customer focus and getting the job done takes priority

* A keen interest in innovation, emergent and disruptive trends in the underwater acoustic domain

* (Ideally) a degree level qualification

* A very high level of integrity and strong moral compass

* Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills and advanced business/commercial acumen

The Company:

Designers and manufacturers of a patented omni-directional and fully passive sonar reflector that provides a strong and clear double echo return, our client was established with the aim of developing and commercially exploiting technology originally conceived within the UK MoD. The company’s flagship technology is used as a test target for sonar equipment, validating sonar performance and marking the location of underwater objects and assets such as mines, divers or submarines, to enable detection, tracking and identification.
