Engineer – Automotive Engineering – Plastic Injection Moulding
An Engineer experienced in plastic injection moulding is required to join the cost engineering department of a global player and industry leader within automotive and industrial components manufacturing to accurately estimate the cost and profitability of new projects. This position would suit an experienced manufacturing engineer or sales engineer.
Midlands based (Relocation considered) – Commutable from – Cannock, Wolverhampton, Telford, Stafford, Birmingham, Walsall, Dudley, Lichfield
£Competitive Salary + Pension + Life Assurance
The Role
• Initiate, monitor and lead quotation process
• Update project costs and profitability at the main stages of projects
• Analyse specifications, CAD models and drawings and other documentation from RFQ pack
• Consult with Customers, suppliers and colleagues to determine project feasibility and resolve any issues
• Determine materials and production method
• Analyse machine capacity
• Collate costs for tooling, equipment and procured parts
• Determine cycle times and manning levels required
• Analyse results versus estimates after product introduction
• Analyse OES products to ensure profit expectations are maintained throughout OES product life
The Candidate
• Our ideal candidate will be educated to HNC / HND / Degree level in Engineering, ideally with an emphasis on plastic techniques, or will have completed a technical apprenticeship
• This position would suit a manufacturing engineer or sales engineer with knowledge of plastic injection moulding processes
• A candidate who specialises in polymer science will be of distinct advantage
• An aptitude for mathematics with the ability to analyse, compare and interpret detailed information
• A thorough understanding of tooling feasibility and assembly processes is desirable
• Computer literate including Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of quality management systems including QS9000, ISO9001 and VDA6.1 are highly desirable
• Experience of SAP R3 is a distinct advantage
