Unit Manager – Looked after Children’s Team – South London

We currently have an exciting new position for a Unit Manager to join the Looked after Children’s Team in South London.

DUTIES
This role directly manages and supervises six or seven social workers
It is an operational role responsible for the transformation, planning, delivery and development required at Unit level to achieve “permanence” for the looked after children and young people (primarily through adoption, special guardianship and long-term fostering), and positive well-being and safety outcomes for them.

REQUIREMENTS
Social work qualification recognised by HCPC
Knowledge of national policy, strategy and developments regarding children’s social care, and areas that impact on children’s social care
Knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory guidance, standards and procedures
Able to transform social work practice at an operational level from poor / adequate to high quality, and introduce innovative practice models effectively
Experience of successfully transforming poor operational child care social work practice into high performing practice.
