Accountant

Salary: £45,600 – £48,000 per year

Are you looking for an Accountant role with a well-established boutique accountancy practice? Our client is a friendly, family-owned firm on the outskirts of Chertsey, with a diverse portfolio of clients that will offer a varied workload within all aspects of accountancy.

The firm enjoys high staff retention, and this role is available due to continued growth. You will join a team where you will be supported in your continued learning and completion of qualification if required.

As Accountant your responsibilities will include:

• The preparation of business accounts for sole-traders, partnerships, and limited companies
• The preparation of VAT returns
• Personal and corporate tax work, including giving tax advice to certain clients
• Mentoring and overseeing a trainee accountant
• Some audit work, if desired – this is entirely optional
• Once settled in, become the first point of contact for a small portfolio of clients and build your own client relationships

• At least four years’ experience within accountancy practice
• Recently or nearly qualified is preferred, however, an exceptional qualified by experience accountant would be considered
• Be self-motivated and confident working under your own direction with minimal supervision
• Have previous experience of overseeing at least two less experienced members of staff
• You will have been the first point of contact for a portfolio of clients in your previous role
• Good IT skills; confident using the advanced features of Microsoft Excel along with exposure to Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage, additionally, experience of Iris would be an advantage
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• You will have your own means of transport and be happy travelling to client’s premises from time to time

There is free onsite parking, and the office is close to local amenities making this an excellent place to work. Full time is preferred, however, a part time role may be considered for the right candidate and there could be some flexibility on working hours once settled in.
