Network Engineer

My client require a Network Engineer to join their team on a 12 month contract basis as a means of support to their US-based Data Centres. The role itself is highly technical and will include elements of network architecture, installation and support. Specifically, you will be:

– Enabling communication over specific layer 4 ports

– Troubleshooting connectivity issues.

– Work together with other teams (ie: Linux, Windows, Database, SAP, among others) to implement and resolve connectivy issues

– Setting up all the configuration needed to onboard new customers

– Working together with different ISPs and customers to implement and fix communication issues between our customers’ networks

– Helping with audits and reports related to the network

– Executing software upgrades

– Working with hardware vendors / providers to fix complex configuration issues / bugs, and hardware failures

Given that those being supported are US-based, we require someone who is happy to work US East Coast times (2pm-10pm GMT typically).

In order to be considered for the post, we require expertise in the following technologies:

– Routing protocols (OSPF / EIGRP / Static)

– High availability protocols (VRRP / HSRP)

– Access lists (ACLs) / Firewall Filters

– VLSM

– NAT / PAT

– Loop prevention mechanisms at layer 2 (different kinds of STP)

– VLANs / Private VLANs

– SNMP/Monitoring

– Transport protocols TCP / UDP

– Intermediate knowledge with Security devices: Firewalls / ASAs

– IPSec tunneling

– GRE tunneling

We have interview slots in the next 2 weeks for those immediately available and would therefore like to hear from interested parties ASAP.
