Operations Manager
Based in South Cheshire

Salary: £60,000 – £66,000

Benefits: 15% bonus, car or car allowance, pension, healthcare

Holidays: 25 days plus bank holidays

JOB PURPOSE:
Full responsibility for all areas of manufacturing including operational expenditure. To meet customer delivery and quality expectations, whilst maximising and continuously improving productivity, quality and customer OTIF within high volume plastics manufacturing.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Drive a strong ‘safety first’ culture.
Management of a site production and logistics team of 70+ people including shift operations, technical support, planning, and engineering.
Manage the production performance, planning and day to day running of the operation. A hands on manager prepared to lead from the front with a ’get it done’ attitude.
Build a strong culture of continuous improvement based on strong training of GMP.
Manage the budget ensuring that optimum cost reduction initiatives are applied where practicable.
Drive a right first time approach to quality, and be able to demonstrate success using root cause analysis methodologies.
Key member of monthly ‘Sales & Operational Review’ taking accountability for the site performance.
Review weekly / monthly / quarterly production resource forecasting, scheduling and maintenance activities of the overall site.
Responsible for all inventory, including raw material, WIP, finished goods and Kanban replenishment of same.

QUALIFICATONS:
Educational and professional:
HND or Degree (preferably in a technical discipline)
IOSH OR NEBOSH Qualified

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE
Minimum 5 years’ experience within a management level position in FMCG manufacturing.
Understanding of BRC compliance
Strong leadership/people management skills including coaching and motivation.
Demonstrate strategic capabilities and commercial acumen.
Have an understanding of working with ERP systems and a good appreciation of production planning.
Significant experience as a people manager with strong training and development skills
Communication/presentation skills.
Experienced in culture change; a proven track record of implementing change and driving process improvements
Negotiation/consultation skills.
Awareness of current SHE and employment legislation.
Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) ie 5s, lean manufacturing
Financial awareness.
Understanding of IT systems and PC literate
