Packing & Matenance Technician
Prevous experience working with wood/casemaking desirable
Job Purpose:
To ensure that works of art in our care is handled appropriately and with the utmost care, depending on medium and task in hand. To manufacture and prepare packing systems that reduce and control the risk of damage to artworks in transit.
Key duties:
- Safe handling of works utilising lifting equipment appropriate to the task.
- Fabrication and preparation of packing systems, linings and wraps.
- Operation of plant and machinery within workshop in accordance with Momart’s training and operation procedures.
- Wrap and pack fragile art objects (intensive training given).
- Completion of operational paper work.
- Assess and record condition of artworks.
- Following procedures as required by company security policy.
- Communicate with job planners and co-ordinators as necessary.
- Take responsibility for informing supervisors of stock levels.
- Keeping the workshop environment safe and tidy.
- Work closely with other technicians, sharing skills and knowledge in a pro-active way.
Follow Health & Safety procedures according to company policy, in line with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.

- Flexible individual – hours of work may vary according to business needs.
- Able to work closely with other technicians.
- An understanding of the fragility and importance of the items being handled.
- An approachable communicator who is comfortable with dealing with all levels of the public
- Conscientious individual who is positive, motivated, vigilant and responsible.
- Demonstrates a good understanding of our security programme and their role in it.
Assists colleagues, customers and Suppliers in resolving security issues and escalating where necessary.
