South Norfolk and Broadland Council have a exciting opportunity for a Senior Housing and Benefit Administrator to join their team based in Long Stratton, NR15 2XE or Norwich NR7 0DU. This role is offered on a full time, fixed term contract until 31st March 2023. In return, you will receive a competitive salary Circa £27,085per annum.

The Housing and Benefit Team has been at the forefront of the government’s response to the pandemic. People have been impacted on numerous fronts including loss or reduction in employment, reduction in income, family breakdowns all of which are increasing hardship and the risk of homelessness. Being part of the Housing & Benefit Team provides you with the opportunity to help people either directly or by providing them with the skills they need to help themselves.
So far this year we have provided over a £1.5million worth of hardship payments, administered almost £50million worth of benefits, provided new homes to over a 1000 people and helped over 60 people off the streets into long term sustainable housing.
We do this through a range of roles and expertise which are covered by a great team of over 80 people. Every single role is essential in helping our residents when they most need it.

What you’ll be doing as our Senior Housing and Benefit Administrator:
• Provide oversight to the management team to make sure all responsibilities can be met both internally and externally, providing proactive and strategic diary management including prioritisation to ensure the team can provide the greater influence over specialist initiatives and operational delivery
• Assist with the organisation of internal and external meetings, providing support as appropriate to include assisting with the timely production and distribution of agendas and supporting papers
• Ensure departmental compliance with the councils’ processes, policies, and procedures
including finance, performance, HR, governance, health & safety, safeguarding, information management, data protection and equalities
• Improve the delivery of customer service across the directorate, managing complaints, Freedom of Information and subject access requests, ensuring responses are appropriate and lessons learnt are acted upon corporately
• Provide budget management to the Housing and Benefit team – Undertake relevant financial processing of invoices and claims for the Directors and Managing Director
• Oversight of the apprentice offer to make sure their development is sustainably supported and their role is fully utilised and embedded within the team
As our Senior Housing and Benefit Administrator, we are looking for…
• At least 5 GSCE’s at level C and above
• Full, clean driving licence
• Demonstrable experience of administrative support including proactive diary and email management to senior officers
• Proven experience of leading and implementing continuous improvement and change management
• Demonstrable experience of working with and supporting senior officers and partners to deliver shared outcomes
• Experience of ensuring the effective and efficient management of budgets
• Excellent written and communication skills with ability to adapt communication style to different audiences
