A growing, successful and highly innovative company are looking for a Trainee Laboratory Technician to join their Food Composition team in the Chemistry & Biochemistry Department on a full time, permanent basis. Full training is provided and you must have a keen interest in Food Science!
The Food Composition Section tests food samples for their nutritional composition for food labelling purposes. The majority of the work is short term, although some contribution to longer term research projects is also undertaken.
The Trainee Technician is involved in the preparation and analysis of foods ready for reporting to the client and you will work to accredited standards. Your tasks will include:
* Conducting a range of tests for nutritional and metals determination
* Operating and maintaining automated food testing equipment
* Collating data for inclusion in reports and, where appropriate, preparation of reports
* Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and hygiene
* Preparing samples for analysis
* Complying with all relevant policies, procedures and instructions
To be a successful Trainee Laboratory Technician, you must have GCSEs / A-Levels including a science subject. Applicants with a degree will be considered and laboratory experience is preferable but not essential. You must also have good knowledge of Word and Excel. It is advantageous to have proven capability in food testing or a similar laboratory environment, however a keen interest in Food Science and its application to the food industry is sufficient.

The salary is from £26,000 and you will be working standard office hours. You will be located in the Chipping Campden office, therefore you do need to be able to drive to get there as it is very rurally located.
