Hours: 40 hours per week

Key Job Role Duties:

To manage the technical team so that their activities are efficiently organised to meet technical requirements on time and within budget. This includes managing the performance of the team, ensuring they are properly trained and qualified and motivated as individuals to work together to give their best.
To provide support and advice to customers in response to the daily calls received by the team, sharing the call loads and leading by example in providing customers with a timely, accurate and helpful resolution to their enquiry.
To ensure that the sales, customer service and operations team have the necessary technical information to support the production of quotes, the timely resolution of customer service issues and purchasing from suppliers.
To oversee the provision of effective and valued training to customers and to set the standards and provide appropriate technical training programmes for internal colleagues including the supervision and support provided to technical apprentices. 
To monitor and review standards of the technical support service, by collecting relevant information, reporting on this and proposing and implementing service improvements based on sound analysis.
To ensure the optimum balance is achieved between an excellent technical reputation and a valuable commercial contribution from the technical team by effectively supporting and directing the team. 
To contribute to the success and development of the Company by championing, supporting and being involved in other projects as required. This includes providing technical input to commercial projects.
Key Skills and Experience:

HNC in mechanical engineering 
Mechanical engineering experience – a good grounding would include experience in a drawing office, some production experience and some support experience such as repairs or installation.
Electrical engineering experience – have worked with electrical products.
Team leadership experience including coaching
Telephone support experience
Technical training experience 
ERP, Microsoft Office and technical computer systems.
Experience of using technical computer packages such as Autocad/DB Works.
