At Labskin we deliver human skin microbiology services to support product R&D activities in the cosmetic, personal care, medical device and pharmaceutical sectors. With our sector experience and use of technology, our customers will be accessing industry-focused services supported by world-leading skin science expertise. We are currently experiencing growth as a business and to the end we are looking to recruit a Scientist in the Reagent Production area. This role will be involved in the production and delivery of microbiological, biological and assay products for the Modern Water portfolio.

Roles & Responsibilities

* Production of Modern Water products, such as Microtox and QuickChek as required to meet customer demands

* Preparation and checking of data for reports.

* Perform culture of microbes and purification of proteins and antibodies.

* Scheduling of reagent production to meet sales requirements.

* Update procedures and SOP’s to align with current ISO standards.

* Production procedure optimisation and method development as required.

* Routine equipment maintenance and calibration of equipment.

* Perform quality control tests on the products.

* Arranging labelling, packaging and shipping of products to meet customer demands.

* Preparation of Certificates of Analyses for each product, ensuring compliance with acceptance criteria.

* Implement and work to the relevant quality systems outlined in the Quality Manual, ensuring full compliance with production standards and procedures.

* Maintain service delivery facilities e.g. cleaning, stock taking, and routine equipment maintenance, aliquoting and preparation of reagents and medium.

* Ensure that all Health and Safety regulations are adhered including working within the relevant risk assessments and COSHH protocols.

* Provide cover for other Labskin team members when required.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

Education/Qualification Requirements

* BSc or higher in Biology/ Microbiology/Molecular Biology or similar

Experience/Competency Requirements

* Experience in microbiology and molecular biology is essential.

* A working knowledge of protein purification and quality control is desirable
