Senior Project Engineer- Wakefield

Our client provides utilities management services to the industrial, healthcare and higher education markets in the UK.
In the Industrial & Healthcare sector our services typically encompass the following activities:
Plant and utilities management
Provision of fuel and electricity
Down stream energy management
Analysis of a client’s utilities plant to determine ways of improving existing performance.
Design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and performance testing of the new plant improvement programme
Funding of the plant improvement programme.
Operation, maintenance, and repair of utilities plant over the long term; contract periods range from 5 years to as long as 25 years.
The solutions provided to clients are always tailored to suit their particular needs.
The range of utilities covered includes steam, hot water, compressed air, combined heat and power, chilled water, process gases, towns and process water, effluent etc. The scope of plant includes utilities generation (e.g. boilers producing steam) and distribution systems up to the point of use by the client.

The Role:
We are currently seeking a Regional Senior Engineer to work in our clients Industrial & Health sectors. The successful candidate would report to the Regional Technical Manager.

The role includes the following activities:
Managing our clients procedures applicable to work being undertaken
Managing Construction, Mechanical and Electrical projects typically £100K to £4M.
Managing contractors and site management
Undertaking clear project reports
Managing safety
Liaising with clients to deliver the project in accordance with local requirements.
Discussing and gaining a full understanding of the current performance of the utilities plant.
Understanding any problems or shortcomings with the current plant. Identifying the scope for plant improvements; such improvements may be reduction in running costs (primary energy, labour, maintenance) better reliability, increased output, better environmental performance, need to comply with legislation (e.g. PPC, EUETS, Climate Change Levy etc).
Estimating the energy, operation and maintenance costs of the alternative schemes; the operation and maintenance costs will be estimated by using in-house databases and working with the company service delivery teams.
Preparing contract documents, specifications, programmes, financial reports etc.o Travel throughout the UK

Essential
Proven relevant experience in similar role.
Motivated and dynamic, self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision.
Flexible, adaptable.
Team player.
Good inter-personal skills. Full driving license

Desirable
Proven construction management experience
of engineering schemes (design, procurement, safety, commissioning and handover) would be advantage.
Lateral thinker
Good presentation skills, both verbal and written.
Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint, AutoCAD software skills.

Locations
We serve customers throughout the UK and are seeking the right person for the role. Regular attendance at our Wakefield office would be necessary however our Manchester, Cramlington or Coventry office could also be used as a base.

Qualifications
Knowledge of steam, hot water, combined heat and power, compressed air, refrigeration, water treatment, industrial gases, cooling plant, and ancillary mechanical and electrical plant as would be found on typical industrial or hospital sites (it is recognised that candidates may not have knowledge of all these).

Degree qualified / HND or in typically mechanical, chemical or energy engineering.
