Salary: £360 – £480 per day
The Opportunity
Our client is a leading International Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor for the delivery of a High technology projects within the Waste from Energy, Petrochemical, Pharmaceutical, Power and Nuclear sectors. Continued expansion has created an opportunity for an experienced Piping Engineer to work on a multimillion pound Energy project.
The Position.
The Piping Engineer will be responsible for
Carrying out basic and detailed mechanical and piping design to site quality and safety standards.
Liaise with the design manager during the design and installation phases of the project and assist in construction supervision when required.
Complete detailed design including, Piping and Fittings Specifications (including valves and supports), Piping and Equipment layouts and inclusion in 3D models, Piping General Arrangements, piping fabrication Isometrics, generate Material take off (MTO / BOM) for piping items.
Reviewing proposals put forward by various sub-contractors to assess suitability of their design / adherence to client requirements
Co-ordination of sub-contractors design to ensure that common routings are used on common supports.
Comply with all approved procedures within the mechanical design group including compliance with current health & Safety legislation
The Person
The successful candidate should possess the following;
At least a in Mechanical Engineering qualification or equivalent with at several years post-qualification experience, with sound organisational, communication, inter-personal and customer care skills
Broad experience in the design, installation and management of utilities and services with a working knowledge of current legislation
Ability to work to deadlines, under pressure and on own initiative
Possess a current driving licence
Experience of Revit and Navisworks
Experience of design of pipe rack supports and combination of supports for ventilation ducting, electrical and control cable trays.
Highly Desirable (but not essential)
Experience of Quality systems to BS EN ISO 9001
Possess good written and oral communication skills, and the ability to communicate well at all levels and be able to control certain financial aspects of contracts and/or projects
Experience in the planning, organising and control of sub-contractors, be able to provide services to agreed standards, time scales and budgets
Have experience in power generation or industrial sector of mechanical services design
Experience of Stress analysis calculations, in particular for steam generation systems around boilers and turbines and routing / limitations of design within buildings would be an advantage.
