Salary: £26,000 per year

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a Domestic Abuse Charity in Torfaen for a Refuge Support Worker to start immediately on a temporary contract whilst the organisation recruits on a permanent basis.

Day to day duties:

o Provide a range of social, emotional and practical support to women and children who have suffered from domestic violence in a safe house

o Work within the Supporting People Framework to enable women to make positive changes to their lives in order to increase safety, well-being and to reduce the threats of homelessness

o Carry out regular risk and needs assessments

o Ensure client needs are assessed regularly and support plans are in place and adhered to

o Refer clients to third party agencies and services as appropriate, for example MARAC, substance misuse, debt advice, Social Services and the Benefits Office

o Ensure accurate records are maintained

o Support service users to maintain licence agreements

o Act as an advocate on behalf of service users encouraging and supporting self-advocacy as appropriate

To be considered for this role YOU MUST have:

o Previous experience of providing a support service to a vulnerable client group within a project or hostel environment, women or families who are fleeing or have suffered from domestic violence

Please note: This role is open to women only – under the Equality Act 2010, Part 1, Schedule 9, a genuine occupational requirement has been established for the service staff to be female.
