Consultant Flood Risk Specialist

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, positive and confident Consultant Flood Risk Specialist for our Flood Risk and Water Management Team based in our London office.

About the role

We are seeking a candidate to provide technical and project management leadership of projects, support junior team members and produce high quality technical deliverables for the range of complex flood risk projects that we deliver for the Environment Agency, Local Authorities and private clients.

As our Consultant Flood Risk Specialist you will report to Senior Flood Risk Specialists and work closely with the existing flood risk team which includes a range of hydraulic modellers, civil engineers and flood risk specialists working at different levels. As well as managing projects and directly liaising with clients you will also have a critical role in supporting our business development team to prepare and present proposals and bids to clients.

What you will do:

Hydraulic modelling of surface water, river and coastal processes
*

Application of hydrological analysis methods to rural and urban catchments
*

Undertake technical tasks with minimal guidance, ensuring the quality of outputs and deliverables with senior staff
*

Directly manage projects, managing project scope, changes budget, programme and financial forecasts / invoicing

*

Establish and maintain good working relationships with clients and colleagues and work co-operatively across functions and business units to share information and ideas
*

Work closely with other senior staff to enable delivery of the wider team’s workload

You will have experience in, or knowledge of:

*

Proficient in the use of TuFlow, ISIS / Flood Modeller Pro or InfoWorks ICM hydraulic modelling software packages and relevant supporting software packages (SMS, MapInfo, ArcGIS, QGIS), and/or be highly proficient in hydrological analysis including FEH and ReFH
*

Extensive technical / engineering skills in your area(s) of expertise (including associated software packages)
*

Experience of working with the Environment Agency, Local Authorities and private clients in the context of flood risk management
*

Knowledge of applicable legislation, policies and guidance pertaining to flood risk, including the NPPF, PPG, TAN 15 and the SuDS Manual, among others

Your qualifications:

Bachelor or Masters level qualification in engineering or relevant environmental science
*

Member of a recognised professional body (CIWEM or ICE), working towards Chartered status
