Senior Public Health Strategist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Public Health Strategist to join a local authority.

The main purposes of the role are:
To take the strategic lead for developing and implementing policies to achieve the
goals of local and national programmes and develop inter-agency and
interdisciplinary strategic plans and programmes, to achieve the objective of
improving the health of the borough’s population and reducing health inequalities.

To contribute to the evidence based commissioning and development of health
services, providing epidemiological advice and health needs assessments to
support the setting of priorities, planning of services and evaluation of outcomes.

To work with Commissioning colleagues to drive forward change.

To lead on core public health analytical and evaluation functions.

To provide expert advice on public health knowledge, standards and practice,
across the spectrum of public health and provide professional leadership in the
Council on selected public health programmes.

The ideal candidate would have an MSc in Public Health Policy or similar, experience of working within a public health team either at a local authority or the national health service. You would need experience of line managing staff and of being a budget holder.
