Assistant Practice Accountant

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Practice Accountant at the Adel office (4 The Crescent, Leeds, LS16 6AA).

They are a general accountancy practice with a very wide range of clients and the Assistant Practice Accountant will be involved in assisting with the management of all aspects of a client’s affairs.

There is a lot of client contact, with the opportunity for the Assistant Practice Accountant to take the initiative in helping the clients with their accounting and taxation requirements. They take a very pro-active approach to helping clients and the applicant would be expected to adopt this approach.

The Assistant Practice Accountant’s role requires a general practice background, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience. They will be reporting to the Practice Accountant and the firm’s Managing Director, as appropriate.

The Assistant Practice Accountant would be expected to have good experience of accounts production and taxation software, as well as Sage & Quickbooks, but they will provide any additional training necessary to be able to use their programmes.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Preparing year end accounts on IRIS for companies, sole traders and partnership
• Preparing corporate and personal tax computations and returns
• Some book-keeping, VAT & payroll
• Company secretarial work
• Managing client deadlines
• Wide range of interesting work including acting for many overseas investors

These tasks are not seen as an end in themselves, these are the tools they use to look after all aspects of a client’s financial affairs and there will be a lot of client liaison involved with these matters.
