Our client supplies water to more than 670,000 people in East Surrey, and parts of West Sussex, west Kent and south London. The supply area is 322 square miles (835 sq km) extending from Morden and South Croydon in the north to Gatwick Airport in the south and from Cobham, Leatherhead and Dorking in the west to Edenbridge and Bough Beech in the east. Groundwater supplies provide 85 percent of the water, with 15 per cent being extracted from one reservoir at Bough Beech.

They currently have an opportunity for a Customer Liaison Advisor to join the Retail Services Department based at the headquarters in Redhill. The role will be predominantly based throughout the Company’s area of supply and will require out of working hours visits to be made when necessary.

The main responsibilities of the role will be to establish contact and make appointments to meet with customers in person at their properties, acting as a liaison between the customer, company, solicitors and the courts to arrange repayment for water billings. Whilst arranging payment you will have a duty to support the customers by giving an explanation of various schemes that the Company and other organisations have to offer to aid them in clearing their debt. You will be expected to carry out investigations to determine domestic and commercial property occupation and responsibility, and also to verify water usage by obtaining meter readings and high consumption checks. Other responsibilities will include collection and handling of cash and card payments, serving County Court claim paperwork, and visiting domestic properties prior to a claim being issued. You will be expected to uphold Company guidelines and the reputation of our client at all times.

The successful candidate will ideally possess excellent listening skills with an attention to detail and accuracy to enable effective decisions to be made capably within established procedures and systematic processes. Essentially, you will have a flexible working approach and will be able to work on your own and within a team. The ability to remain calm and work effectively under pressurised circumstances is key and it is incredibly important the individual has strong safety awareness to uphold the principles of lone working at all times. You must be competent in using a PC and associated networks and systems, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and hold a minimum of 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grade C or above, which must include Mathematics and English Language.

You must hold a full, clean driving licence to be considered for this role.
