Finance Manager – Distribution

Salary: £50,400 – £57,600 per year

Excellent Finance Manager opportunity for part qualified or qualfiied Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) to join fast paced, dynamic distribution business. Commercially focused you will be comfortable supporting non finance managers and have the gravitas to and build strong relationships. Highly analytical you will have the ability to interpret and challenge business results alongside the accurate production of financial data. You will have strong analytical and excel skills and ideally experience within a distsribution environment.

Job Purpose:

The Commercial Finance Manager will lead the Distribution finance function in the delivery of operational finance services for the Midlands Distribution. The role will be the single point of contact for the site operational management with overall accountability for providing tactical business finance, administration services, providing business support, interpreting, and analysis and to the management teams.

Key stakeholders include Commercial Financial Controller, Head of Distribution and the financial accounts team.

Core responsibilities:

• Confidently lead the Distribution Finance and Administration function with overall responsibility to service the needs of Distribution by ensuring the team achieve their key deliverables.. 
• Challenge and guide Operations on performance improvement; create a management reporting framework which provides regular and thorough business challenge to the Operations.
• Review and document key operational procedures and document key control procedures; drive adherence in the distribution environment to ensure control. Set up internal audit processes for controls.
• Work closely with Transport and Retail to ensure delivery schedules are optimised to drive labour savings.
• Key finance representative at weekly/monthly Operations “board” meetings, confidently deliver operational material to these audiences.
• Drive forward profit opportunities on capital projects through investment appraisal, procurement strategies, commercial prowess (capex, utility management, procurement etc.)
• Development of effective balanced scorecard reporting for Distribution management.
• Effective forecasting, sensitivity and scenario planning for additional cost/ cost reduction at different levels of activity.
• Full accountability for Distribution (Midlands) business performance reporting (weekly/periodic cost reporting).
• Analysis and challenge of business performance particularly Warehouse, and Transport operations, ensuring that risks and opportunities are highlighted promptly and actions are driven by relevant stakeholders.
• Production and analysis of monthly management results, commentary and analysis for Distribution.
• Drive through cost reduction initiatives by influencing by building strong working relationships to ensure buy in and successful delivery.
• Support the delivery of the Network finance agenda such as Budgets, Forecasting, Central Reporting, Continuous improvement initiatives, process re-engineering, and development material. Provide cover for the Network Business Partners as and when required.
