Financial Accountant

Sellick Partnership has been engaged to recruit for a Financial Accountant for a growing and dynamic financial services company based in Manchester. They operate within a regulated environment and are now looking to strengthen and develop its finance function through the appointment of a hands-on Financial Accountant.

The role

Working with the Financial Controller to produce accurate and relevant reports and management information for statutory and management accounting purposes. To achieve the required standard of balance sheet and profit and loss account reporting into the general ledger system.

General responsibilities include:-

· Deliver accurate and relevant financial and management accounting reports, to support the analysis and interpretation by the Financial Planning Analyst.
· Produce and analyse a trial balance, profit and loss account and balance sheet monthly.
· Play a lead role in monitoring financial performance, provide guidance and assistance to the business in analysing and reporting as appropriate, and provide a responsive and quality service
· Assist the Financial Controller in producing cost benefit analysis and profitability assessments when required for management usage to allow business comparisons and decisions to be made.
· Assist in the development of an effective budgetary process including an appropriate budget plan.
· Assist the Financial Controller in developing effective financial systems to support the information requirements of the business.
· Assist the Financial Controller in the year end statutory audit process.
· Manage, motivate and develop the direct reports. Provide coaching to ensure they achieve their maximum potential and provide regular feedback to the Financial Controller
· Prepare and produce the annual employee HMRC returns
· Undertake ad hoc project work as requested

The person

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant ACA or ACCA who is either a first or second mover out of practice. PC literate with ability to develop reporting functions to include budgets, forecasts, targets etc. Ability to clearly communicate at all levels both verbally and in writing. Positive thinker, decisive, assertive and commercially aware. Proven experience at delivering high quality output to tight deadlines. Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently. Ability to work flexible in a fast paced, challenging environment. Excellent interpersonal skills.
