Management Accountant

Salary: £42,000 – £48,000 per year

The Company

Able Bridge Recruitment are thrilled to be working with a business that has tripled in size (revenue) over the past few years. The business have identified that there is a gap in their accounting department and as such are looking to hire a management accountant in a newly created position.

The role will report into the head of finance and will be based in the companies head office in Hamilton. The finance function consists of approximately 15 members of staff who are all based at the companies head office.

The business has been trading for 4 decades and has seen profits increase at a staggering rate recently. They operate within a facilities management/business services field and have a client base that are protected from economic fluctuations.

Hybrid working will be an option when the probation period has been completed. We would expect the candidate to be in the office for at least 2 or 3 days per week (once probation has been completed).

The Responsibilities

The purpose of this role is to provide robust management accounting services to the head of finance. There are a high number of individual transactions so key MI and variance analysis is required. You will be liaising with internal stakeholders within the organisation and will be producing monthly management accounts/board packs.

On a day-to-day basis you can expect to be responsible for the following;

Production of monthly management accounts and associated monthly board packs.

Reporting of finance performance and analysis of variances against forecasts.

Balance sheet reconciliations, VAT Returns, Accruals/Prepayments.

Production of P&L accounts for board review.

Assist the head of finance with the production of statutory accounts.

Assistance with the development of a new financial ERP system.

The Requirements

We are ideally seeking a professionally qualified accountant however our client has indicated that they would consider a qualified by experience accountant. Aa crucial competency that we are seeking is the ability for be able to work independently and autonomously. The organisation has a large number of transactions on a monthly basis so there will be a high level of reconciliation required. Your ability to use Excel to an advanced level is also essential as you will be completing a large proportion of the financial analysis within the tool. We are seeking analytical accountants who are comfortable in dealing with large sets of accounts/data and who can work with the head of finance in leading the finance team.
