Software Quality Engineer vn9030, based in Stevenage an initial 6 months contract c38ph
Qualifications needed by applicant
Bachelor’s degree in a Software Engineering discipline
Previous Experience and Skills:
Has worked as a SW Quality Engineer on projects of similar size and complexity.
Strong Software Quality Assurance and Software Configuration Management process and/or engineering background adhering to formal standards (in particular ECSS-E40 and ECSS-Q80).
Exposure to real-time, embedded, mission-critical software – space or aerospace desirable.
Conversant with the requirements of ISO 9001, familiarity with CMMI.
Good knowledge and practical experience of the estimation and the financial monitoring of the tasks to be achieved.

Outline Job profile
The Software Quality Engineer (SQE) will be responsible for ensuring that the software project products and processes are performed in accordance with the plans and applicable standards, on behalf of the Software Project Manager.
Typical tasks include:
Definition of the quality objectives and the Project Software Quality Assurance Baseline, Producing the applicable Software Quality Assurance Plan, Project Standards and Quality Operational Procedures.
Supporting the Software Project Manager in the definition and the implementation of the overall software project processes in the definition of the development logic and in the choice of methods and tools to be used.
Assessment of the software processes and the quality of the various items of the software product through quality inspections, reviews, audits, collection and analysis of metrics.
Chair and/or support reviews (e.g. PDR, CDR, TRR, TRB, DRB) and approval of all documentation.
Assessment and reporting on the quality of the software product and processes in periodic reports and in the specific reports allocated to the milestone reviews.
Management of the interface with the internal and/or external customer on software quality matters in agreement with the Project Manager.
By his/her knowledge of the processes implemented in the software project and his/her global approach and analysis a capability, the SQE is a key factor in process improvement actions and participating in their implementation with the project.
