On behalf of our client, one of the world’s leading engineering organizations, we are currently recruiting for a Data Scientist to wok within the world class and well established Energy division.

Overview

Siemens Energy – Aero Derivative Gas Turbines (AGT) is recruiting a Data Scientist to be based at Iceni Centre in Warwick, United Kingdom. An established world leader in this highly innovative field, our business has been providing solutions for global power generation and oil and gas customers for over 50 years. Onshore and offshore, our expertise and equipment provide an essential contribution to the world of energy, whether this be processing and transporting oil and gas through major pipeline networks or generating electricity with unsurpassed levels of efficiency and environmental cleanliness.

The position of the Data Scientist will reside within the Data and Information Services Department, which drives the digitalization initiatives within the AGT business and leverages Big Data to help our customers, enables efficient business decisions and optimised performance.

Key responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the Data Scientist will be structured around Data Analysis and Reporting as well as Data Management, and will involve a significant amount of interactions with other AGT functions and the external parties.

Data Analytics

Systematic analysis and validation of the data contained within AGT data management systems, ensuring data integrity and data quality. Developing optimised processes to automate and support such validation.

Data interrogation and integration between different data sources leveraging on Data Analytics platforms – R studio, Python, AWS and Business Intelligence tools

Support the ad-hoc and regular requirements for data analytics from other functional teams: collection & analysis of the requirements and identification of the data sources required

Data analysis for health monitoring

Data Reporting

Develop and produce analytical statistics and forecasting based on the industry standards and best practice.

Lead the work-streams to support the integration and standardisation of reporting practices and represent D&IS team in cross-functional / cross-divisional initiatives.

Help identifying, develop and deploy the require output algorithms utilising Algorithms As A Service (AAAS)
Development, deployment and documentation of the AAAS APIs

Data Management

Analytical support of ad-hoc request and data aspects of the Systems migration projects:

Assist in developing of the design of data architecture and ontology

Lead the development of new data supply chains; devise methods of collection and systematisation of data

Administration of the standard queries and reporting out of company-wide systems

Data Integrity

Ensure timely delivery of the information by all the stakeholders

Define rules and processes for automated data validation

Generate data integrity and data quality reports

Required qualifications, experience and skillset

As a minimum: a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Reliability, Data Analysis, Mathematics or related science disciplines; results no lower than 2:1. The MSc qualification in the above topics will be preferred.

Must demonstrate a practical experience in the field of data analysis in Engineering;

Required skills and knowledge:

Principles of Knowledge Graph
Cloud environment
Statistical analysis of data
driven programming language (Python or R)
Advanced MS Excel and MS PowerPoint

Knowledge of and experience in the following subjects will be advantageous:

Ontology (Protégé + FluidOps)
Matlab
Restful APIs
BI platforms (QlikView, QlikSense, Tableau)
Application of Lean Six Sigma
Experience in the repair and overhaul, fleet data management, and Oil & Gas sector

Genuine interest in data, information, emerging digital trends and their impact on the society and business development.

Proactive, well-organised and result-oriented approach combined with an ability to communicate clearly and efficiently, both in writing and verbally.

Ability to act independently, proactively and take ownership for the delivery.

Customer-focused approach. Ability to build productive relationships with others and to build rapport with colleagues and internal customers to improve results
