Graduate Product Design Engineer

Salary: £28,800 – £31,200 per year

My client, a family owned packaging business based in Cambridgeshire, are looking to recruit a Tooling Designer to join their growing and dynamic Technical department. With huge plans for expansion, new machinery and the move to a specialist ERP system over the coming 12 months, now is the perfect time to join this business.

Based in the heart of the Technical Design team, you will work closely with the other designers to generate tool designs and assemblies using CREO (Pro-E) or Solidworks, assisting in the standardisation of new and existing tool design assemblies with relevant components. You will work with the Head of Design to in completing tooling improvement projects, and ensure that customer approval is obtained in a timely fashion.

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

– Assuring that the customer approval process is completed and sign off is obtained prior to designs being passed to Quality before the tooling is manufactured
– Order cutters and tool plates as required in the manufacture of production tooling,
– Provide the CNC department with tooling drawings
– Assist in the specification of tooling and tooling accessories

Ideally you will be degree qualified in an engineering discipline with either an understanding of, or interest in, tooling or tooling design. Vocational qualifications are of definite interest, but must be backed up with relevant design experience in a similar role. Working knowledge of tooling design processes, material specification and tooling accessories is desirable, but not essential.
