Mechanical Design Engineer

Salary: £45,600 – £57,600 per year

As an experienced Design Engineer can you create mechanical engineering masterpieces for high-end bespoke products through to individual industrial applications by detailing and producing manufacturing ready drawings, from component level right through to finished product using AutoCAD Inventor 2D & 3D? Design Engineer responsibilities:

* Designing, drawing and detailing specialist mechanical units utilising a range of steel formats and strengthened glass for industrial and architectural situations.

* 3D modelling using your creative flair and aesthetic design skills, applying them to the standard components, ensuring design for manufacture (DFM) and assembly, liaising with suppliers, architects and customers throughout the process

* Utilising your knowledge of engineering materials, components, fixtures, finishes and hinges with a high level of attention to detail for clients approval, to producing straight-to-manufacture and exploded assembly drawings for production use

* Ensure all documentation is accurate and complies to ISO9001 and other standards as appropriate. Occasional site surveys could be required.

Experience and skills you’ll need to be the Design Engineer:

* Mechanical Engineering qualification with at least 3 years hands-on experience in mechanical product design, detailing and draughting using mild and stainless steel, glass and other engineering materials

* Experience with AutoCAD Inventor 2D & 3D 2018-21, ideally with knowledge of 3ds MAX modelling, rendering and animation software plus the ability to pick up a dedicated construction industry package

* Solid all round MS Office Suite knowledge and experience of ERP/MRP software

* Working closely with the Lead Design Engineer you’ll be a team player with common sense, a flexible attitude and an eye for detail who aspires to create a masterpiece for on time delivery

* Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, you’ll work closely with clients, architects, suppliers and the internal engineering project team

* You must be organised, a good time manager with an eye for detail and accuracy

* A UK driving licence and transport is essential due to their stunning rural office location

This is a new, additional role in this successful, growing business with a very active and full order book. Discerning clients require very special engineering solutions to be delivered on time, so you will be proactively involved in managing those projects.
