Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Required for very busy M&E building services consultancy based in Stockport. The role is both exciting and challenging as it will involve supporting the Director with workload as well as playing an integral part in structuring the business and helping it evolve. The workload for this company is constantly increasing due to the first class levels of service and support they offer their clients and prospective clients. Due to this continued growth there is a real need for a well versed, mechanical design engineer to support the commissions that are coming through.

We are looking for a self starter who can design unaided and design from a brief that a client may give. There will be the need to attend client sites to take briefs and deal with issues so you will need to be comfortable dealing with and speaking to clients and be able to represent the company and help secure the business by speaking with confidence, clarity and knowledge.

Our client would be happy with someone who has come from a tools background so has the practical nous and has progressed their career, ideally with a degree in building services (or equivalent) and a recent background in consultancy.

Mechanical design experience within building services is ESSENTIAL

Duties include but are not limited to:

* Design of Mechanical Services either from a survey or scheme report
* Drafting drawings
* Undertaking calculations using Hevacomp Software
* Production of specifications
* Undertaking assessments
* Carrying out relevant surveys
* Provide budget cost assessments
* Production of tender reports
* Liaise with in-house electrical, cad and secretarial staff to support a smooth production process
* Operate AutoCAD System
* Tutor and mentor junior staff when needed
* Carry out project management duties including acting as lead consultant
* Chairing meetings
* Visiting customer and potential customer sites
* Carry out defects inspections and issue appropriate certification
* Write and produce operation and maintenance manuals as appropriate
* Working to deadlines in order to meet project requirements
* General office duties when needed including filing, photocopying, document binding, postal duties etc. to enable the smooth operation of the business
* Other reasonable duties as and when required and in line with business need
