ESTIMATOR

When our client was established in 2001, they set out to deliver best-in-class ground source and air source heat pump solutions, today they have over 14 years’ experience in the design, engineer, install and maintain leading edge innovative renewable heating and cooling systems and are the UK’s leading large scale heat pump provider. They also work across, Air Source Heat Pumps, Combined Heat & Power, Solar PV and Solar Thermal.

Position Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic estimator to work within a high performance sales and estimating team at their Coventry headquarters.

Deliver accurate and commercially astute estimates and designs for renewable energy solutions consisting of ground/air source heat pump systems CHP, PV Cells, Solar Thermal and Biomass systems.

• Capture and record requirements for design and estimation from clients as part of the estimation process in conjunction with the sales lead
• Work with clients to refine designs and meet client business issues and drivers (e.g. achieving specific renewable targets through the appropriate selection of renewable technologies)
• In conjunction with the sales lead for the project, finalise system specifications with consultants and contractors
• Analyse and evaluate specification documents and client requirements in order to design appropriate, accurate and commercially suitable solutions
• Produce feasibility and tender proposals in accordance with the projects specific requirements
• Liaise with product suppliers for technical information and competitive pricing
• Provide technical support to the Sales Leads and clients via telephone, email or face to face meetings
• Receive and respond to feedback on bids in conjunction with the sales lead
• Preparation of handover documents and cost budget breakdowns and allocation of costs to the project budget centres for the operations team
• Proactively identify areas for improvement within the design and estimating software and make recommendations
• Provide administration support to Sales Leads for quotation and estimation tasks when required
• Willingness to work outside hours to ensure the required tasks are completed. Some business travel may be required

Skills

• Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of renewable solutions – to include ground/air source heat pump systems, CHP, PV Cells, solar thermal and biomass systems
• Excellent knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications, with particular emphasis on Excel
• Understanding of engineering principles
• Highly numerate with attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills to communicate effectively at all levels and build effective working relationships with department/contract managers and external clients
• Ability to work on own initiative, as a team supporting others and without close supervision
• Excellent level of organisational, time management and prioritising skills
• Ability to work under pressure to strict deadlines
• Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times
• A professional appearance and attitude to representing the company

Beneficial Skills

• Preferred – Determined, ‘can do’ candidate with an appetite to develop their skills
• Commercial and Contractual awareness. Knowledge of commercial contracts useful but not essential
• Interpretation and understanding of mechanical engineering drawings
• Knowledge of Ground Loop Design software operation useful but not essential, training will be provided
