Our client provides key desktop and software support to the charity sector. An excellent opportunity has now arisen for a 2nd & 3rd Line Technical Consultant / Engineer to join their vibrant and dynamic company, in an interesting and diverse sector.

This is the ideal role for a Windows support professional with VMware experience and great network skills looking to develop their career and skill set with a successful, innovative business. Focusing on green, environmental solutions, our client is committed to working with customers rather than for them to deliver perfectly formed, innovative services and systems.

As a 2nd & 3rd Line Technical Consultant / Engineer, you will be responsible for providing customers with high quality technical support and consultancy services.

Responding to escalations from the 1st Line Team, you’ll deliver remote technical support via the telephone, email and internet. You’ll also provide technical account management to key clients and ensure that any issues are resolved in a timely and effective manner.

Additionally, utilising your in-depth knowledge of networking and virtualisation technologies, you’ll support the junior members of the team and take ownership of any escalated issues.

As part of your role, you may be required to undertake occasional travel to customer sites in order to resolve any issues or carry out project work.

To be considered for this role, you must have:

– At least three years’ Windows support experience including Windows Server, Exchange, Active Directory, Terminal Services and SharePoint
– Experience of hardware installation, including servers, NAS/SAN devices and firewalls
– Experience of VMware vSphere and ESXi
– Strong network skills, including Cisco command line

As a 2nd & 3rd Line Technical Consultant / Engineer, you must possess excellent communication, organisation and troubleshooting skills. Analytical and proactive, you must also have a technical mindset and superb attention to detail.

A working knowledge of major database packages, including SQL Server would be beneficial to your application, as would knowledge of web platforms such as MS IIS,.NET, Apache and iPlanet. Experience of Avaya IP Office phone systems would also be advantageous, as would a good understanding of ITIL processes.
