Manufacturing Engineer

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a quality-focussed Manufacturing Engineer to join an innovative company based in Newbury.

My client is a market leader in the design, manufacture and supply of high-tech communications equipment for world-renowned customers, and due to continued business development they require a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to join the business.

As the Manufacturing Engineer you will support manufacturing engineering projects focusing primarily on continuous improvement, product quality and improving customer delivery metrics.

Key responsibilities of Manufacturing Engineer:

Reviewing current manufacturing methods to highlight areas for improvement.
Assist with the design of manufacturing cells for existing and new product introduction.
Use lean tools and methods to improve the productivity of existing manufacturing processes.
Create new and correct/modify/rewrite existing manufacturing method files.
Participate in decision process to determine the most cost effective manner in which to manufacture products.
Prepare component and assembly cost estimates to support financial decisions required to evaluate new business opportunities.
Assess, trouble shoot, and provide solutions to technical problems in a timely, cost effective manner.
Specify and purchase tools and equipment for manufacture.
Provide manufacturing data, technical expertise and support.
Liaising with research and development, suppliers and other departments when necessary.
Create/update product structures for manufacturing.
Design jigs, tooling and fixtures for manufacture.

The successful Manufacturing Engineer will ideally have the following:

Relevant Engineering qualification (BTEC, HNC/HND, Degree)
Have experience in a quality improvement role
Knowledge of Manufacturing processes and tools
Have demonstrable experience in Lean or Six Sigma
Possess excellent communication skills
