1:1 Outreach Support Worker

SEN TEACHING ASSISTANT – CLACTON ON SEA ESSEX

Due to the expansion of the specialist school based in Clacton on Sea our client is looking for Learning Support Assistants with specialisms in Behaviour and Autism to work in the classroom and for outreach work. This is for an immediate start and will continue as on ongoing contract. You will need to be a car driver for the outreach work but this is not necessary for the classroom assistant role.

JOB TITLE – 1:1 OUTREACH SUPPORT WORKER

LOCATION – Clacton on Sea Essex

Salary: £26,000 – £26,520for Permanent Teaching Assistants Contracts CONTRACT- £26,000 – £26,520 per year for long term supply

KEY STAGES – Key Stage 3 or 4 (KS3) (KS4)

OUR CLIENT – SEMH/EBD SPECIAL SCHOOL – Clacton on Sea Essex

Is based in Clacton and is a BESD special school (SEND) with a unit for students on the Autistic spectrum (ASC), you will be working with young people who are facing difficulties in accessing education. The school works in partnership with a wide range of agencies to provide high quality provision for children and young people with Behaviour, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD) and Autistic Spectrum Condition in Clacton. The school had an OFSTED inspection last spring and achieved outstanding. They offer a wide range of programmes including alternative provision and vocational qualifications for Key Stage 3 or Key Stage 4 (KS3 or KS4) and 1:1 outreach tuition for permanently excluded students, those at the point of exclusion and students who find a classroom setting difficult to manage

THE ROLE – 1:1 OUTREACH WORKER OR LEARNING SUPPORT MENTOR

You will be working either one to one with a Key Stage 3 or Key Stage 4 pupil or with small groups of students within the classroom.

You will be well supported by a qualified teacher as well as the senior leadership team. You will be expected to give appropriate feedback and maintain records of the pupils progress and development. Manage the pupils behaviour in the community, classroom and on school premises, and apply appropriate and effective measures in cases of misbehaviour. You will be liaising with other professionals, such as carers, advisers, educational psychologists and education welfare officers.

SEND OUTREACH WORKER OR LEARNING SUPPORT MENTOR

You must be an experienced support worker, who has had experience working with Key Stage 3 (KS3) or Key Stage 4 (KS4) pupils who have Social Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) and or Autism your experience could have been gained in a mainstream setting or a pupil referral unit. You must be able to remain calm when the need arises, be extremely resilient and have excellent negotiation skills.

You will need to have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships quickly with students and their families and previous experience of working with Key Stage 3 or 4 (KS3) (KS4) students with challenging behaviour is essential. You will have the ability to motivate and inspire reluctant and struggling students coupled with the ability to differentiate work and use students interest’s to build innovative and creative lessons.
