Support Worker

Salary: £26,000 – £28,080 per year

Dutton recruitment are seeking compassionate, dedicated Support Workers to fill a variety of roles across York. Our recruitment process is fully remote during lockdown restrictions.

We work with a wide range of care settings including mental health, learning disabilities, rehabilitation and children’s support workers and young people.

We recruit Support Worker’s who always work with the service user’s best interests and dignity at heart. You must:

Have a minimum of 6 months experience
A DBS check will be required (we can apply for one for you if you are not on the update service)
Two references

Ongoing trainingThe Support Worker role is varied dependent on the client’s requirements, but is likely to include the following tasks:

Empowering service users to live as independently as possible
Supporting them to access the community to take part in hobbies and leisure activities
Offering emotional support
Helping with everyday tasks such as preparing meals, shopping and cleaning
Understanding communication needs and the ability to adapt your own communication style accordingly
You may need to help with personal care (washing, going to the bathroom, dressing, eating, and drinking)
Helping with the development of life skills such as budgeting and paying bills
Booking and accompanying to medical appointments
Liaising with other health care providers such as doctors and therapists
Compliant and accurate record keeping as per the requirements in the particular setting
Quickly reporting any emotional and/or physical changes in those you care for
Showing sensitivity for service users preferences and cultural needs
Assisting with mobility issues, which can involve heavy lifting and hoisting
