City & Guilds

Salary: £28,200 – £31,720 per year

Do you like solving problems? Have you an eye for detail? Are you good and comfortable at handling and checking data?

Does helping improve service success levels tick a box for you? If so this may be the job for you!

We have a vacancy for a Technical Data Administrator within our Skills Credentialing business. The role involves a range of tasks including solving technical problems in a 2nd line capacity, that we encounter day to day. So there is a lot to learn to get to expert level. But also, there is scope to bring your strengths and skills on how to problem solve and continuously improve.

We’re flexible about the location of this role, but you’ll need to be within commuting distance of one of our main office hubs – Brighton, London, Burntwood (near Lichfield), Warrington, or Wakefield.

We are open to fresh ideas so if this sounds like you, read on and apply!

The role is based in the Data Management team in the Fulfilment function of Operations and Programmes. We currently continue to operate through home working and there are no immediate plans to adjust this arrangement.

What is involved?

  • The primary responsibility of the team is handling 2nd line queries for our customers and internal departments. This usually concerns issues around our registrations and certificates which our customer services team are unable to handle. So in depth understanding is required, training provided of course, in order to reveal, possibly resolve and then explain back or onwards to another contact where required.

  • The role also involves a significant amount of data manipulation and preparation so that others may view and understand or for later processing.

  • We also conduct system checks on key essential processes, acting as early warning where problems are detected.

  • System testing, usually where changes are being applied, is a routine requirement.

  • As a consequence of the first three, we have responsibility to continually tackle and reduce error occurrence from our processes and systems. So ‘peeling back the layers’ behind the obvious issue at hand and then effectively raising an appropriate alert to get at the heart and root cause is a daily requirement.
