An experienced supervisor required who has had previous responsibility for distribution, transport and preferably production, to undertake a very hands on leadership role within a family run specialist business, that has a fast paced, though service driven environment.

Applicants must have a Class 2 driving licence (predominantly to be able to co-ordinate and support the movement of vehicles on site and for vehicle service/maintenance requirements). Experience is also required of managing transport, ensuring it’s compliant with all national regulations & legislation. Applicants also need to have had previous leadership responsibilities, capable of overseeing a team of up to 15 workers within a busy, fast paced, service driven production & distribution business.

Role responsibilities:-
To supervise and oversee daily production plans, to ensure plan is achieved, and vehicles loaded correctly, on time, in compliance with relevant national regulations/legislation.
To ensure vehicles are properly maintained, and comply with all national regulations
To ensure production site safety, by enforcing H&S procedures and policy.
To oversee and make suitable provision for production manning capacity, man-management as required.
To manage and monitor production within the quality control policy and procedures, ensuring consistent and highest production quality.
To open the site each day for production purposes. To oversee daily site close down procedure.

Job Tasks
Open up and closedown site procedures
Allocate production plan to operatives, and monitor progress
Assist operatives with production, as required depending upon manning, volume and timescales.
Unload and load delivery vehicles, and third party hauliers for customers/suppliers, as required.
Occasional customer deliveries.
Taking and collecting HGVs for inspection and maintenance.
Formulate and implement loading plans for our vehicles.
QA checking and recording of batch samples – incoming and outgoing.
Monitor daily stock readings, tank space management, bulk tanker planning as required.
Assist with bulk tanker deliveries as required.
Manage various stock categories – packaging, fuel, sundry items.
Liaison with drivers, for route planning and progression of deliveries, allocation of deliveries.
Daily man management of production operatives and drivers.
Maintain regulatory record keeping for HGV’s, servicing, Inspections, Driver details etc.
Enforce PPE use as required.
Schedule and arrange FLT servicing, breakdowns etc.
Monitor and record waste product retruns from customers, prior to storage and onward shipment to re-processor site.
General ad-hoc projects as required from time to time.

Person Attributes:

Hands-on attitude and method of working, working with production staff, doing the job as well as supervising the tasks undertaken.
FLT licence, HGV licence both desirable/essential, and will need to be achieved/undertaken.
Experience within hazardous environments desirable, experience with bulk raw materials in terms of unloading, storage, filling/blending/packing – highly desirable.
Experience of batch filling and blending an advantage.
Supervisory experience. Able to prioritise tasks to meet daily production plan.
Fully prepared to work outside in all weathers.
Experienced man-manager.
Local person. Ideally reside within 5 mile radius of site.

Good commercial mindset – flexible and responsive to business needs.
