Mechanical Design Engineer

Mechanical Design Engineer – 6 Month Contract – Norwich

Overview

My client is an international Machinery Manufacturer based in Norwich. Due to an increase in work they are seeking 2 Mechanical Design Engineers to assist in the drawing office for a 6 month period.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following

•Design, redesign, layout and detail as necessary mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies and components of new and existing machines.
•Check drawings for form, fit, function, tolerance and conformance to sound design practice.
•Design and develop improvements to existing equipment including the preparation of cost estimates.
•Perform a full range of standard technical calculations.
•Recommend proper material and hardware for projects.
•Consult with engineering, purchasing, manufacturing and service personnel, vendors and others concerning the advisability of contemplated designs or changes to existing designs.
•Conduct in-house and/or field tests for new or redesigned products. Designing, assembling or approving necessary test apparatus.
•Maintain the good order of the company property and general housekeeping.
•Comply with aspects of Health and Safety and COSHH regulations and follow the Company safety policy.

Education and/or Experience

BS degree level in Mechanical or Electrical, Agricultural, or other appropriate engineering discipline or an equivalent combination of work and knowledge.

Mechanical design knowledge in a manufacturing environment. Experience in CAD design and development tools on desktop computers. Familiarity with electronic spreadsheets and word processors such as Excel, Word etc.
