Product Development Engineer, Design and Development Engineer

£42,000 – £48,000 + 25 days holiday plus bank holidays + bonus + Pension + Life Assurance + Sick Pay + Healthcare Scheme

Commutable from Hull, Beverley, Brigg, Bridlington, Cottingham, Driffield, Doncaster, Hedon, Howden, Goole, Scunthorpe.

Company Information:

My client is a specialist manufacturing firm who supply their products across the world including North America, the former soviet states and many developing countries. The firm is very well established and have an ever-growing order book. They have recently set out on expanding after a busy period during the pandemic which has already started in terms of investment on the site.

You must have the following:

  • Ideally degree qualified with Engineering or similar with a good understanding of mechanical design principles
  • Must have Practical Design Analysis Skills that have been used in the work place whether this be Stress Analysis, FEA and CFD
  • Knowledge of 3D systems in particular, Solidworks would be advantageous
  • Must have proven experience working in a design role working within a manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to demonstrate a history of working with customers to develop engineering solutions to design problems
  • Experience of working closely within a traditional manufacturing facility and an understanding of the requirements of process plant and equipment is desirable
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal at all levels of a business
  • Computer literate and with a good knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
  • Attention to detail and a “right first time” attitude is a must

Role:

The Product Development Engineer will work within the engineering team to drive the Company’s Research and Development projects as well as taking the lead in drawing new products to enhance the Company’s existing portfolio.

 Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead key projects with R&D to support business goals.
  • Develop research programs incorporating current developments to improve existing products and study the potential of new products.
  • Understand customer expectations on to-be manufactured products.
  • Determine and execute improved technologies used by suppliers, competitors, and customers.
  • Transfer new technologies, products, and manufacturing processes into and out of the company.
  • Research, design and evaluate materials, assemblies, processes, and equipment.
  • Use creative abilities and research methods to improve existing products based on industry trends, and
  • Develop new products to meet the needs of the company’s target market
  • Report on any technical product issues that are discovered during evaluation and manage product testing and trials, assessing the materials used, the efficiency of the process, and the effectiveness of the final product.
  • Working with the Sales team to correctly identify customer requirements
  • Assisting with process trials and product development, both at the Group R & D facility in France and at customer sites worldwide
  • Visiting customer sites to gather information regarding their equipment to allow us to reverse engineer designs to their requirements
  • Document all phases of research and development. ▪ Establish and maintain testing procedures for assessing raw materials, in-process and finished products.
  • Oversee complex research projects, analyse results and provide recommendations based on findings.
  • Assess the scope of research projects and ensure they are on time and within budget.
