Salary: £32,400 – £35,400 per year

Leading manufacturer of Flavour and Fragrance chemicals seeks an experienced Senior QC Shift Analyst.

About the role:

Reporting to the Quality & Food Safety Manager and be responsible for a small team of QC shift analysts. You will need self-application in the role of main technical specialist and trouble-shooter for the QC shift and will organise the QC work programme during the shift.

You will be required to use a variety of techniques to provide QC analysis of; Raw Materials, Finished Products (Non-Aroma and Aroma), external pre-shipment samples representing sourced materials, intermediates, In Process Test samples, distillation fractions, and R&D samples and to maintain accurate records of these analyses, and communicate them to both the internal and external customers.

You will be required to create and maintain Specifications and Analytical Methodologies (AMs) for all; finished products, isolatable intermediates, and production raw materials when required and be competent in the application, and method development & validation of all of the analytical techniques used within the QC function

Aditionally you will be responsible for all analytical equipment used on site; managing maintenance, calibration and Performance Verification on behalf of the group.

A contribution towards the olfactory assessment of aroma products and fractions in the capacity of an odour panellist will be expected with a view to becoming an expert.

You will be required to investigate and report back conclusions and recommendations to the Customer on all Customer Feedback issues concerning product quality and log and provide documented evidence for; Supplier PGI, and internal NMRFT Non-Conformances, where material is found to be OOS and to complete and return; quality, and technical, customer questionnaires and provide food safety/regulatory related statements and certifications for products concerned.

You should have a degree in chemistry which will ideally include modules in analytical chemistry as well as organic and inorganic chemistry. It would also be beneficial, but not essential, to have 2 or more years industrial experience working in a hands-on analytical role with good experience of instrumental techniques.

The salary being offered is: £32,400 – £35,400p.a. depending on experience.

The hours of work are an alternating 2-week shift system based on a 37.5hr working week:

  • 6:00am to 2:00pm Monday to Friday with a 30min unpaid lunch break
  • 12:00am to 8:00pm Monday to Friday with a 30min unpaid lunch break
