The Role
Are you a Bid Writer seeking a new opportunity? Here at Amey we have an opportunity to work within the central Business Winning Quality function, providing bid writing support to bid teams from all Amey Business Units, accessing knowledge resources and a range of previous bids to ensure consistent high-quality responses.
The Bid Writer is a key role in the bid teams, working closely with the Bid Manager, Bid Coordinator, technical subject matter experts, and wider Business Winning Quality roles, including graphic design, document architect and Knowledge teams.
Bids will cover a range market sectors and capabilities including highways, rail, consulting, facilities management and other complex support services. Bids may be standalone Amey opportunities or working with strategic partners delivered as a joint venture or consortium. Bids will vary in duration, size and complexity, with contract values ranging from £5m to £150m+ per year.
This will be a remote working role with some visits to our offices in Liverpool, London, Birmingham and Oxford, as required
Responsibilities
Work on bids under the guidance of the Bid Director and Bid Manager, producing high quality consistent bid responses, reflecting the Amey house style
Analyse client requirements including compliance and scoring
Help identify win themes and story boarding to shape the content of responses
Help bid team members with sourcing material from Knowledge resources and previous bids, maximising the sharing of best practice
Access Knowledge resources and technical input from team members to craft responses to specific client questions, backed up with evidence and case studies
Provide editorial support to other bid authors
Carry out final copy editing and proof-reading
Support final bid production process.Additional responsibilities:
Produce storyboard and bid response templates for completion by subject matter experts
Produce style and writing guides, and promote implementation of best practice including consistency, accuracy and readability
Liaise with response authors, document architects and graphic designers to produce documents with visual impact, good readability and sound technical content
Identify previous similar responses and case studies to ensure consistent quality output.
Qualifications required
Experience of bidding (1-2 years) and/or experience in technical writing and/or journalism.
Degree level education in a writing-based subject
Competent in use of MS Office, especially MS Word
Competent in use of MS Teams and SharePoint
Excellent communication skills with a high standard of written English
Flexible, calm under pressure, takes ownership, and has a sense of fun
Thorough in approach, diligent, with keen attention to detail
Deadline and process oriented
Highly organised with the capacity to take on, and prioritise large volume of tasks
Commitment to see job through from start to finish
Salary/benefits
This is a band B role and attracts 24 days holiday, contributory pension, 37.5 hour working week, flexible working and access to a range of Amey savings
