Salary: £45,600 – £48,000 per year

A UK provider of innovative air filtration solutions for removing ultrafine airborne particles and pathogens is looking to appoint a proven design professional with experience of mechanical building services projects.

The Position:

The appointed Design Engineer will assume responsibility for:

* Design (from initial concept through to production) of bespoke and standard air filtration units, both portable and fixed, for a wide range of building types

* Managing engineering designs in accordance with the client’s brief or project requirements

* Preparing detailed engineering drawings containing sufficient detail to ensure full manufacturability together with all relevant information

* Reviewing the designs of less experienced staff, providing feedback and coaching accordingly

* Liaising with other areas of engineering (eg electrical, software) production and procurement to produce considered design solutions

* Monitoring resourcing requirements for projects and communicating this with senior management

* Participating in client meetings, site visits and surveys to take specifications / brief

* Pre-design costing through to design and preparation of tender documents and tender reports

* Working closely with the contracting and on-site delivery teams (inspection of installations, commissioning, handover stage)

* Contributing to the improvement of technical standards, knowledge sharing, new codes and methods of working

The Candidate:

Applicants will be expected to demonstrate:

* A minimum of 5 years’ mechanical design experience within mechanical building services / HVAC systems incorporating air filtration, ventilation, air handling units, heat recovery units, fan coils, pressure valves, MVHRs, FCUs, CHW/LTHW and/or VRF/VRV systems

* Practical, hands-on experience gained ideally in a contracting environment (although consultancy experience may also be considered)

* Proven expertise in the use of AutoCAD software

* An excellent understanding of engineering and design principles relating to air flow calculations

* Mechanical engineering or building services engineering qualifications to HND or degree level or time served industry experience

* The ability to work under own initiative from initial brief to design completion

* A professional, industrious and pragmatic approach to efficient problem solving and achieving results

* Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to engage with clients, consultants and professional teams
